As wardrobe stylists, fashion bloggers, style vloggers, etc. we always get so caught up in thoughts like “what will be the next big thing in fashion? Or what’s the hottest trend and where can we find it?” Let's take a little break from intense research and have fun with what's in our own closets. I chose to take a step back and show a little recognition to some of the pieces I've hand selected to build up my wardrobe. So with that being said, LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO MY FAVORITE PIECES AND TELL YOU WHAT MAKES THEM SO SPECIAL TO ME.
NATIVE AMERICAN INSPIRED DETACHABLE COLLAR/CHOKER
The reason why this will forever be my favorite choker NO MATTER WHAT is because I designed it myself. If you didn't know, sketching is one of passions. Two summers ago, I sketched a flared pant cat suit with this detachable Native American inspired collar/choker. My family's Native American so bringing this specific design to life was and still is a major accomplishment. Being that I have no clue how to sew, I had to bring my design to someone who could. She's actually a family friend who used to make cute outfits for me when I was in elementary school. YOU COULDN'T TELL ME NOTHING lol. But get this... this lady has years and years of experience and gave me a compliment that will forever stick with me. She told me that my design was very detailed and there was no need for clarity. Meaning, she knew exactly what I wanted just by looking at what I drew. She then went on to make a very valid point, saying "I wouldn't have thought to add feathers to a choker piece. See, I can deliver as a seamstress but that's what makes you a designer. You took what you had in your mind and put it on paper." I don't think she knows how much that meant to me.
YOU GET THE BAG...
This bag makes me feel so bougie and I love it. Guess how much this statement piece was: $25 from Aldo. As you can see, it's not spacious and is not meant for every day use. However, it's so hard not to wear it. She's such a neutral color so she goes with so many different outfits. In addition to that, it brings that UMPH to your look. It can be worn as a crossbody bag or carried by the handle. One of my best purchases in life.
I LIVE FOR A BERET! I can't wait to get on my friends nerves even more when I add to the collection. I just think that berets are so classy and cute. Both of these hats are from ZARA. I wore the black diamond and pearl studded beret to NYFW event (posted on the Portfolio) and I got so many compliments. I wear the red beret occasionally. Check out how I recently wore it below.
SHADES are such a necessity, in my opinion. Riri agrees so that should validate my point. These are my 2 favs. How lit are these white framed Versace’s?! I love them not just because they’re Versace but because it was a gift from my cousin. Anything coming from my loved ones is special.
The black cat eye shades is my 2nd fav because it was the last pair in the store. I was on a hunt for exactly this and I found it in Aldo. I even bought them in pink too.
Anyone who knows me knows that I was never a huge fan of earrings. Until I purchased these! These earrings got me to step out of my comfort zone. I now proudly wear hoops and any type of stylish dangly earring with no hesitation. I bought these in burgundy too lol what self control?
CAN I CLONE THIS TSHIRT?
I’m probably speaking for every wardrobe stylist in the world when I say that I’d love for ZARA to send me a life time supply of this T-shirt. If I could wear this shirt every single day without being judged I WOULD. The funny thing about this is that I’m wearing this T-shirt today. I love it because it’s a simple reminder of what I stand for and who I am. “STYLE IS NEVER WRONG- use only under stylist supervisor” enough said.
