Creative space is a concept embracing the mental, physical and emotional environments within which creativity operates. It can’t be given to you by a manager or spouse, it is something you must carve out and claim yourself.
Disciplining myself to remain in a state of creativity is one of the best commitments I’ve made. It clears my mind of anything that does not revolve around fresh ideas to apply to my portfolio, blog and Instagram page. Style blogging requires consistent and in-depth research. I refer to magazines, fashion and style blogs, fashion editorials, music videos and interviews for inspiration and informative purpose.
I am inspired by Vogue, hence my love for the FIERCE Anna Wintour who is nothing short of amazing. Her gift in identifying aspiring designers who are sure to become influential in the fashion industry is impeccable. Diane Von Furstenberg, who has shared a table with Mrs. Wintour while judging the CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund program, is a light of inspiration as well. If you love a wrap dress, thank this woman.
Many people may not know this, but I love to create concepts for fashion designs, photography and videography.

Planning the concept behind the shot above that embodies the Woman in Her Creative Space was so fun. Submitting yourself to a creative space is so important because it’s self expression. I genuinely enjoy the process of bringing my thoughts to life and watching it unfold is the best part.
I’ll never forget the video I watched of Grace Coddington where she was behind the scenes of a Vogue shoot. Seeing how she carried herself with so much grace (no pun intended) and confidence while enjoying the moment of thoroughly getting her job done on set was beyond impressive. At that time, she was the creative director for Vogue. That’s a HUGE position and she did that. There is so much passion that goes into being creative and it separates your mind from chaos or things that are totally out of our control. Your creative mind is what directs you towards your future so continue to be inspired and protect your creative space. ✨
Tracee Ellis Ross has humbly proven herself to be the QUEEN of style, grace and life advice. Subscribing to her YouTube channel has opened my mind to so much. She seems so at peace while doing so. It’s kind of like the questions and comments allow her time for reflection for herself. I find that so dope because it’s very rare for a person of such status to value a fan’s time let alone want to personally connect with them.
If you’re into centering yourself and absorbing positive energy, I most definitely recommend you subscribe as well. Her transparent approach to explaining ways to control your destiny is amazing.
I’ll let you in on the hidden jewels that has inspired and molded this fabulous being:
💎Being awake and aware
💎Being yourself and trusting yourself enough to go after all of the things you want in life
💎Loving yourself enough to be comfortable in your own skin
💎The desire to never stop dreaming!
All super amazing acts that push us towards the direction we are destined to go in life. To have passion and a dream is to have purpose. I can attest to the fact that it does get super overwhelming at times. The question of “will all that you’re doing pay off” comes into mind, right? Tracee has shared ways to beat that feeling of fear to fail.
She explains that inner strength is having a sense of self and that opens the door to accessing all of the things we want in life. To know yourself is a powerful thing which is why I’ve built my blog off of the importance of accepting self before anything. However, of course it’s easier said than done. The challenge is to remain motivated. I was very touched by a prayer she was kind enough to share as well:
”May the space between where I am and where I want to be inspire me.”
I know for me, I tend to compare where I am currently to where I’m going and end up discouraged. We have to embrace progress and be appreciative of the moment.
“Let’s get into style..”
The style icon loves vintage and favors designers Rachel Comey, Céline, Duru Olowu and Isabel Marant. Her bold style is a way to express herself creatively which changes mood-accordingly. She DOMINATES the color pink, in fact I’m going to assume that’s her favorite shade to wear. The collaboration with JC Penney on November 12th of last year is doing very well and who wouldn’t understand why?! The line is super diverse, ranging in sizes and pieces— cozy pj’s to athletic wear and of course it wouldn’t be a Tracee Ellis Ross collection if it didn’t give chic. Everything is under $100 and she made it a point to do so to make the line accessible to everyone. Dope.
JC Penney collaboration Nov 2017
Without a doubt, she is Top 5 STYLE influencer in my book. Check out the pictures below to see my favorite recent looks from T-MURDA....yes she even has a hood alter ego (she’s perfect.)
Happiness is a choice.
The direction you take your life in is a choice.
Your career path is a choice.
Your choice in style is a choice.
Everything in YOUR life is choice.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day routine and forget that this is society’s perception of what the day should be like. Now if you’re content with this, keep doing your thing! Do what works for you.
However if you feel like I do, you’ve probably realized that we end up neglecting our passion and the 9-5 steals the time we need to perfect our craft. A gift and a purpose should never be taken for granted. The craft is like a baby that needs to be nourished. I’ve personally realized that there is very little happiness that comes from moving according to what the world expects. Acknowledging that pushed me to break into super creative mode. Surrounding myself with people who are just as passionate as I am about their own gifts has only added more fuel to my fire and vice versa.
My love for wardrobe styling, creating concepts and style-confidence blogging has birthed an eagerness to just remain consistently inspired. That’s what brings me so much joy.
It is clear as day in the photo above (taken by @livlon.online on 9/30/2018.)
Power of attraction is so real and we hold more power within ourselves than you know. Clear your mind and fill it with only things that revolve around your passion. Walk by faith and remember that you have full control over your thoughts. Let all the things that are intended to be yours be drawn to you.
First thing’s first. I don’t normally become incredibly intrigued by designers, but this case is DIFFERENT. The name Christian Cowan certainly rings bells. While earning his degree in Fashion Design at London College of Fashion, he worked with celebrities Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus, later working with Nicki Minaj, Paris Hilton, Beyoncé and Cardi B. (Mind blown!) Cowan is creatively inspired by women who are true to themselves.
Paris Hilton walked in Cowan’s FALL 2017 NYFW debut!
Christian Cowan was introduced as “The student designer behind Lady Gaga’s Glittertastic suit” by UK’s Grazia Daily in 2014. Now he’s headlining!
He has such sick designs and just by looking at his work, it is more than clear that he doesn’t play it safe nor does he play by the book. What I mean by that is he doesn’t work according to trends. This is what differentiates him from all of the rest. Making such a huge mark at only 23 is beyond commendable. In his PAPER Magazine interview, he described this as “keeping a finger on the pulse.” I can totally relate to this theory. Our 20’s is the time period where we learn so much about ourselves and we’re constantly evolving. Just as we are evolving, the world within fashion is rapidly changing. This creates so much space for fresh ideas — we are inspired by mood, new values, and the people that surround us.
Cowan is one of 10 finalist of the CDFA/ Vogue Fashion fund!!! He was chosen by The Council of Fashion Designers of America, INC. Let that sink all the way in. This guy’s lit. Fashion pioneers such as Anna Wintour, Nicole Phelps, Steven Kolb, THE Diane Von Furstenberg and more who have and continue to inspire us acknowledged his gift. The purpose of the fund is to support emerging talent and financially help designers to continue to move forward in their career by extending their budget. Mentorship from CFDA designers and fashion executives is also provided to the top 3 winners.
I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that Cowan will win first place. Yeah, FIRST PLACE. His work speaks volumes but his character and the beliefs he has built his work on speaks even louder. This is one designer I’ve GOT TO meet and New York City is but so big so just watch!

If you’re familiar with Taz Angels, the terminology “Daddy Issues” should not be alarming to you. As weird as I personally think it is to submit to a lifestyle where you have to objectify yourself, this is actually a common behavior within women who have absent fathers. One thing I can’t help but see eye to eye with them on is the point of DADDY ISSUES being a real thing.
Tragedy can either break or make you. The experiences we go through in life are all planned events that mold us. It’s almost like pottery and you have the choice of having total control over the clay. Growing up without my biological mother who passed away when I was 7 and having no relationship with my “father” eventually forced me to take total control. Control over my fears, control over any situation that tries to stunt my growth and control over my future.
Yes, I’ve had father figures but things don’t always go as planned. And I’ve learned that a father figure is exactly what it’s called, someone just to step in for a moment. One walked away from I’m assuming the responsibility and weight that came along with it, one betrayed me and the other chose to put an end to our father-daughter bond through a text. All very hurtful situations that haven’t and could never break me. Even the thought of my biological father not feeling any need to show any type of sympathy when my mom died makes me cringe to this day but never broke me. That’s nothing but God.
This type of strength doesn’t happen overnight and it only happens when you really want change. You have to accept yourself and learn to LOVE yourself to gain power over any given situation. All those girls that are apart of Taz Angels are gorgeous. You can be the prettiest thing walking but you’re only as valuable as you see yourself. That’s how powerful the mind is so be very mindful of your choices in men, friends and the energy you allow in your space. Don’t let the domino effect from disappointment of being let down so many times let you settle for mental, emotional or even physical abuse. Detach yourself from any and everything that is toxic. Take total control.
Choosing to take control was the best thing I could ever do for MYSELF. My blog is based on style and confidence building because it’s what helped me to find myself. Which is why I find it important to create balance and express my ideas on topics like this.
Finding yourself, identifying your passion and serving your purpose fills that empty hole. Don’t be that girl to blame all your wrong doing on your daddy issues. Be accountable for the decisions you make and for the direction you want your life to go in. ❤️
It’s about that time of the year again !!! New York City’s streets will be full of vibrant, eye catching style and new trends. It can be a real difficult, tedious task to get your hands on tickets to the industry shows. Some of those shows range in the $1000’s and some are sold out before the summer’s out. Access is so limited. HOWEVER. The open to public shows are just as fab and offers the same opportunity. If you are last minute searching for shows, volunteer opportunity, workshops, networking events and even after parties where you can mingle and connect with others who are just as passionate as we are about style and fashion, here are a few:

Sexual attraction is a human instinct but our generation allows it to go too in depth in ways that become TOXIC. We search for the feeling of being wanted, appreciated, acknowledged and even loved by what attracts the eye. Getting to know a person for what they really are has become so uncommon. We are so quick to feed what we lust and starve what we need. The constant battle of mental, emotional relationship versus a sexual interaction comes into play and in most cases, sex wins. Speaking from experience, it’s very inconsiderate to pursue a person with only the intentions of being sexual. That blatantly states that you have no respect for their worth, character or time. You may disagree but if sex is all you can offer and ask of a person, you should re-evaluate yourself. Which brings me to my next point. After questioning “when will it stop” I realized it wasn’t just my awful choice in men, it was me too. I desperately needed to grow up and grow out of that weak mindset. Just like anything else I disagree with that our very oblivious, careless generation does, I have to stand against this theory of it being okay to be considered a “friend” with benefits. How is settling for a forced, stagnant, unhealthy disconnection beneficial to my growth? Ever since I put things into perspective and started respecting myself AS I SHOULD, I’ve become so cautious when it comes to allowing people in my space. What you allow is what you get.
I’m more than sex appeal.
While I was looking through my pictures to choose which photos I wanted to post on the portfolio page, I scrolled past this. Aside of it being laundry week, I figured it would turn heads and raise questions. And it did. A T-shirt was the start of a conversation. Let’s be clear, I love Beyoncé. But this proved my whole idea behind wearing the T-shirt. I assumed it would stir some controversy and catch the eye of at least 4/5 people whether it be on Instagram, the train and subway to SoHo or work. I was right.
I wore it with Zara’s black and white stripped trousers ($35) black and white Supreme socks and wore my cream Vans (pic below.)
So the blonde is gone (LOL.) I’m already getting asked why I got rid of it. I missed my real hair. I’m a real life brunette and I’m cool with that especially due to all this healthy GROWTH. I just want to share something: it’s 100% OKAY to be in love with every and anything that makes you the REAL YOU. Yeah, it doesn’t happen over night. Absolutely. But when you get to the point in your journey, EMBRACE IT AND KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY. I’ve been called “cocky” I’ve been called “full of myself” and I’ve even been told “you think you’re better than others.” I laugh at nonsense like that because it took me a hot minute for me to get to where I am in being secure in myself. It was my choice to wear a platinum blonde wig, which is a bold color, and it was ALSO my choice to take it off and show the real me again. Be secure in yourselves ladies and do WHAT YOU WANNA DO.
Today I wore a mid-length black, fitted dress from H&M with Guess knee-high boots and a BlankNYC leather jacket. Shades is my favorite accessory because it brings a vibe to a look. I’m not saying every look needs shades BUT a simple, clean all black look called for it.
I can’t wait to get a hold of Spring so I can share all the ideas I have through the photo shoots and looks I have planned. So stay tuned. Spring in NY is really playing and I’m over the games.

Listen, there’s just something amazing about the tune of “ENDLESS MIMOSAS🎶.” Yesterday was a day full of yummy food, good music, good vibes and a cute fit. My friends and I went to The Club House in New Hyde Park, NY for Boozy Brunch. It’s such a chill bar. I ordered the steak and eggs (no sauce!) and guess what... it’s only $25. Sunday Funday forced me to accept my truth: I’m addicted to mimosas. I lost count of how many I had within the 2 hour time frame they give you for nonstop refills. Lol I’ve never drank anything so quick in life, not even water. After the 1st one, it was a WRAP.
We played some Auntie Mary and some classic Destiny Child and dipped off to a Hookah lounge. Typical us. We stayed for about a hour or so until I got called into work.
I wore a black “peep through” bodysuit and camo jacket (MYSTIQUE) with Fashionnova’s clear heel. SB: How can you say no to a mimosa?
How’d you spend your Sunday and what’d you wear? 👀 Tag me!
