Back to the basics

So the blonde is gone (LOL.) I’m already getting asked why I got rid of it. I missed my real hair. I’m a real life brunette and I’m cool with that especially due to all this healthy GROWTH. I just want to share something: it’s 100% OKAY to be in love with every and anything that makes you the REAL YOU. Yeah, it doesn’t happen over night. Absolutely. But when you get to the point in your journey, EMBRACE IT AND KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY. I’ve been called “cocky” I’ve been called “full of myself” and I’ve even been told “you think you’re better than others.” I laugh at nonsense like that because it took me a hot minute for me to get to where I am in being secure in myself. It was my choice to wear a platinum blonde wig, which is a bold color, and it was ALSO my choice to take it off and show the real me again. Be secure in yourselves ladies and do WHAT YOU WANNA DO.

Today I wore a mid-length black, fitted dress from H&M with Guess knee-high boots and a BlankNYC leather jacket. Shades is my favorite accessory because it brings a vibe to a look. I’m not saying every look needs shades BUT a simple, clean all black look called for it.

I can’t wait to get a hold of Spring so I can share all the ideas I have through the photo shoots and looks I have planned. So stay tuned. Spring in NY is really playing and I’m over the games.

TrueLife: I’m Addicted to Mimosas. SUNDAY BRUNCHDAY Edition

Listen, there’s just something amazing about the tune of “ENDLESS MIMOSAS🎶.” Yesterday was a day full of yummy food, good music, good vibes and a cute fit. My friends and I went to The Club House in New Hyde Park, NY for Boozy Brunch. It’s such a chill bar. I ordered the steak and eggs (no sauce!) and guess what... it’s only $25. Sunday Funday forced me to accept my truth: I’m addicted to mimosas. I lost count of how many I had within the 2 hour time frame they give you for nonstop refills. Lol I’ve never drank anything so quick in life, not even water. After the 1st one, it was a WRAP.

We played some Auntie Mary and some classic Destiny Child and dipped off to a Hookah lounge. Typical us. We stayed for about a hour or so until I got called into work.

I wore a black “peep through” bodysuit and camo jacket (MYSTIQUE) with Fashionnova’s clear heel. SB: How can you say no to a mimosa?

How’d you spend your Sunday and what’d you wear? 👀 Tag me!

What’s the tea FASHIONNOVA?

Turning 26 is a blessing! I thank God for growth, strive, passion, PURPOSE, love, focus and everything he’s given me. I brought it in with family, friends, great food, good drinks, laughter, fun and bomb looks. I chose to put together Fashionnova pieces because the price range and style are usually on point. I posted each look on my Instagram and even shared links of certain peices with people to purchase. My question is this: no matter how well known your business is, wouldn’t you want to acknowledge your supporters?
Before I go into my point, I want to clarify that this is not a bashing post. I just want to put the lime light on what some businesses fail to do and recognize. Ok, SO... attached to my huge package was a card that instructs the customer to post and tag or email the company pictures to be featured on their page. Listen, I took some bomb photos so you already know I sent them in just KNOWING that they’d love the photos just as much as I do. Instead, I was told that they weren’t looking for any new “collaborations” but they’ll keep me in mind and later commented under my photo “Hottie.” Am I dumb? 1. I’m not a model so my intent was never based on wanting to collaborate lol and 2. Fashionnova always needs features for consistent promotion. Wassup with that?
As a future business owner, this is something I’m totally against because EVERY client should feel appreciated. Today, a following on Instagram seems to define a person and sometimes no credit is given to where it is due. My Instagram promotes style and self love. I take a lot of pride in that. This has pushed me to continue to build my brand so I can get into the position of providing a platform for passionate people like myself opposed to depending on pages that tend to overlook “the little people.”
The comment was cute tho.

So then this happened! Going blonde was one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made. KIDDING, ISSA WIG! Symone @BEATTHATWEAVE is the master mind and hands behind this bomb new look. She is awesome at what she does, clearly. She’s owns the shop TLC on Main Street in Hempstead, NY. Listen, I always wanted to go Barbie doll blonde. 4 years ago, I went on a blonde journey that destroyed my hair. My hair texture is very soft so I was never able to accomplish the blonde I really wanted because my hair wasn’t thick enough to bleach. I actually played myself once before trying out the bleach and my hair fell out in clumps, forcing me to cut it into an awkward bob. (WORST LOOK OF MY LIFE)
I love my natural hair and I am super proud of how healthy it has become since treating it after dying it blonde so many times. However, I am a woman. We get bored and sometime want to venture out and you know, SWITCH IT UP.
Blondes truly do have more fun and it’s such a bold color, reasons why I love it. My friend asked me “what’s your new name” and I thought that was the most hilarious thing because I didn’t think it was thattt drastic of a change. It made me think of what my Alter ego should be called and how woman really have names for their wigs. think I’m going to call her “NICK.”
